Looking for:
Windows Server Standard — Core + 10 CALs - What do I get with my purchase?Windows server 2016 standard cals included free. CALs for Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Standard and Datacenter
Hi all: I'm Googling but still confused. If so, are the CALs included only for admin. Please, set me straight. SBS is now "Server Essentials". So, according to someone with whom I spoke yesterday, the answer for Server Standard is Back in the day it came with either one or five and sbs I think came with 5. Cals aren't that much that you are really spending "a lot of money". It's really only Standard and up that I'm intererested in. They probably aren't considering anyone would purchase just one or two standard server licenses since at that point the essential server really is what makes sense.
Ignoring the pricing aspect, what they have done seems like a definite improvement in simplicity for licensing. If you have less than 50 devices, go with server essential and all your CALs are included, but if you have more than 50 devices, then you would need at least 50 cals and likely need multiple server licenses too, so use something like their Open license program and purchase the correct number of licenses and CALs and not worry about having the figure out how many CALs came pre-packaged with the server license SKU you purchased since none of those come with CALs anymore It's working like a charm in trial version but will we need CAL after purchasing a basic Windows Server Standard licence?
